About

Chisel Barn is a very poular and highly praised barn conversion in the loveliest part of the Dorset countryside between Blandford Forum, Sturminster Newton and Shaftesbury.

Sitting under Hambledon Hill looking down on to the River Stour, the barn consists of two light and airy properties called Fox Ditch and Whites Ground (named after two of our fields). Both have large double height kitchens and living space, and both are furnished to the highest of standards. They have retained the original barn features including exposed beams, but also offer contemporary levels of comfort including double glazing and underfloor heating. All rooms are on the ground floor.

Whites Ground has three double bedrooms. Fox Ditch has two double bedrooms.

A new third property sits next to them. Top Cottage is a generous one-bedroom annexe flat with its own entrance.

The barns were the base for a large and successful dairy enterprise and remain part of a working farm, with stock-cattle and sheep grazing in the surrounding fields.

There are far reaching and spectacular views over the River Stour valley, the dairy pastures of the Blackmore Vale, the churches of Shillingstone and Child Okeford to the south and west, and the Iron Age forts of Hambledon Hill to the north and Hod Hill to the east.
