Chisel Barn is half a mile away from the charming village of Child Okeford. The village has a particularly good shop and post office, selling fresh vegetables, bread and dairy produce.
Just minutes walk away from the barns are the two village pubs - The Bakers Arms and the Saxon Inn. Both are loved for their homely atmosphere and good, simple food. Previous visitors enjoyed being able to walk home in the dark after a drink here!
From Wednesday to Sunday Gold Hill Organic Farm Shop and the Tea-Sympathy Café are open. Here you can buy delicious organic meat, fruit, vegetables, cereals, patisserie and cheese. The farm courtyard is also home to the excellent Art Stable Gallery.
In Child Okeford you will also find a garden centre, and a village hall where Film Nights are held on the fourth Friday of the month.
The nearest towns are Sturminster Newton, Blandford and Shaftesbury. Salisbury is forty five minutes away and Bath an hour and a quarter north. The Coast is just under an hour away for Kimmeridge and Lulworth. Lyme Regis would make a good day trip out of season.
